Thomas Grange Simons correspondence, 1826.

Correspondence includes a letter (1826 Sept. 11) from Francis K. Huger to Thomas Grange Simons in which Huger offers to mediate a "misunderstanding and affray" which occurred between Simons and Francis Quash. Huger suggests the wording of an apology, and the letter includes Simon's reply and apology, as well as a note by Simons concerning further communications with Huger and certain omissions he made in his apology. A letter (1826 Oct. 13) to Simons from Francis K. Huger concerns Quash's apology to Simons and their reconciliation. The verso of dinner invitation (n.d.) from Huger to Simons bears a note in pencil by Simons relating the circumstances of the dispute which arose between himself and Quash.

Francis Kinloch Huger was born in Charleston, South Carolina, in September, 1773, and died there in 1855. At the age of eight, he was sent to study in England, remaining abroad until he had finished his education and medical studies.
